Lamentations 2:20-22

²⁰ Look, O Lord, and consider!
    To whom have You done this?
Should the women eat their offspring,
    the children who were born healthy?
Should the priest and the prophet be killed
    in the sanctuary of the Lord?

²¹ The young and the old lie
    on the ground in the streets;
my virgins and my young men
    have fallen by the sword;
You have killed them in the day of Your anger,
    You have slaughtered and not pitied.

²² You have invited as to a feast day the terrors all around;
in the day of the Lord’s anger
    no one escaped or survived;
those whom I held and raised
    my enemy destroyed.
